Our school

Berrinba East State School is situated in Berrinba, Logan City.  It’s located south of Brisbane, approximately 21 km from the CBD.  Berrinba is a residential and rural area, with substantial commercial land use, and some industrial areas.  Berrinba is named from an Aboriginal word meaning “to the south”.

The school was established in 1977.  School facilities comprise 25 classrooms, specialist science and music facilities, media room, library and hall. The grounds feature significant trees, native gardens and active play areas.

Berrinba East State School celebrates a diverse mix of students.  Of our 500 students, approximately 54% come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, with 42% who are Pacific Islanders, predominantly Samoan.  We have 8% who are Indigenous and approximately 11% who are verified with a disability.

The focus at Berrinba East State School is to provide a child-focussed environment that engages and empowers all to achieve personal excellence in an atmosphere of respect and honesty.  The school is committed to continuous improvement and a very strong belief that every child can learn.

It is important to recognise that the school has high expectations of its students in terms of their punctuality, attendance, behaviour and learning.   We take particular pride in striving to develop the potential of each child through building their attributes around confidence, persistence, organisation, getting along and resilience.

Berrinba East State School provides high quality education through a relevant and stimulating curriculum in a secure and caring environment.  Our staff are passionate about their teaching and encourage all students to strive to achieve their best with their learning, social skills, school pride and sense of service to others.  Our school promotes a set of values which empowers students to make positive contributions to the school and wider communities.

Fostering a strong partnership between the family and the school through clear and continuous communication is a key element in students’ success at Berrinba East State School and all parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education and in school events and decision making opportunities.
