The Engine Room is a safe environment
filled with equipment to help students learn to change their engines from ‘low’
or ‘high’ to ‘just right’.
has a strong focus on ‘heavy work’, giving students the muscle feedback needed
to regulate their engines through a variety of sensory motor equipment.
Equipment used includes a ball pit, large mats, therapy balls and breathing
The skills students learn in the room are then transferred to
appropriate strategies in the classroom to increase participation in learning.
The activities in the Engine Room also improve; body awareness, balance, gross
and fine motor skills and coordination.
